Vote your heart for first choice on Nov. 2nd.
Do not worry if that person stands a chance or not. Just vote for who you REALLY WANT. Not to do so will be to waste your first choice vote. Your first choice is your message to the rest of us.
Vote tactics for choice number 2 and 3. This is where you pick the candidate you like best of those you think might win. (or the one you find least offensive if that is how you feel)
Of course I would be very grateful for that first choice or second choice vote. And if you want to get more people to vote for me, take a moment to pass on our website and your recommendation today.
But more important than that, is to hear everyone's heart.
---------------------------- If you would like to join us on election night from about 8 PM on we will be at: La Estrellita Cafe & Bar http://maps.google.com/?cid=17118760022468552039s=9263771600571477433 446 E 12th St Oakland, CA 94606-2311 (510) 465-7188
I will be joining Laura Wells, Green Party Candidate for Governor, along with as many other Greens and friends who want to join us.
Everyone is welcome to come.
Don
Oakland deserves a Mayor who works for residents first. “I want a city that serves all residents with compassion, advocacy, and action.”
The job of mayor involves having a vision for what is possible. It means convening and listening to visionaries in our own community, and harnessing their talent. It means supporting and empowering people in our community to create enduring solutions to problems, and together seeking positive opportunities for the future.
- As mayor I will be a hands-on manager and leader. I will be a tireless advocate for the basic rights and well being of people in our City. I will fearlessly create a transparent form of City government. I will take a pro-active—not reactive—approach to managing our City’s fiscal crisis. And, I will create accountability at all levels of government for service excellence to our residents and businesses.

- As mayor I will seek community solutions to social issues. I will listen to the community and its leaders by adopting proven solutions for change. I will support efforts and initiatives that benefit the greatest number of our residents.
- As mayor I will commit resources to grass roots organizations.
I will play an active, engaged, and collaborative role with those who are improving the lives of residents in our communities on a daily basis.
- As mayor I will advocate charter reform. I will work across all boundaries and with any group so that the form of our City’s government follows the desired function and results we want from our elected officials.
- As mayor and as a candidate I will will hold up a standard of ethics, values and concern for our residents. I have spent my life working for social justice here in Oakland and for many years before I moved here. My commitment to the environment is just as long standing. Being a long standing member of the Green Party I stand up for our 10 core values. I am here to bring ethics to our city government and civility to our local elections. The election should be about the issues and I am about the issues.
The Mayor’s office is a place where good things should happen for people in our community. I am inviting you to partner with me to make Oakland a safe, vibrant, and positive city for all.
In community spirit,
Don Macleay
